Burning Bush
Meets: Sunday Mornings During the
school year
Time: 9:30 A.M.
Come and join the Burning Bush Sunday
School Class! This is a class of all ages. We have people who
leave early to sing in the choirs, play bells, park cars, help with the
children's Sunday School program, mentors for the Confirmation kids, and
some simply help where they have an interest! Don't feel you cannot be
in a Sunday school class because you cannot make a complete commitment.
We are all doing other things for the church at different times.
Feel free to join us and bring along
your ideas for study!
This class has an active Prayer Chain.
We always take time to share Joys and Concerns. We are like family.
Please accept our invitation to join our
family and study with us and share your faith.

United
Meeting Time: Sunday mornings during
the school year
Time: 9:30 A.M.
Contact Person: Alice Walters
Our class has at least two reasons for
meeting. We need to visit and keep current of each other's health,
family, and happiness in their lives. We also have something we are
reading and discussing - this changes from time to time.
During the summer months, we meet at the
Uptown Cafe to eat after church. This way we can keep some track of
each other at those meeting times. This fall we will choose a new
topic for discussion.
We usually select topics that are closely
related to Bible Study. However, discussion can wonder around a bit.

United Methodist Men
Meet at the Uptown Cafe at 6:30 a.m. every
Friday morning

Membership
Although every United Methodist Church is to have an
organized group of
United Methodist Women, membership in the church does not automatically make
a woman a UMW member. Women actively choose to become involved in our
organized mission movement. Any woman may join UMW by committing
herself to our PURPOSE through participation in meetings, prayer, giving,
study, action or service - - to
whatever extent each woman is able to be involved. We welcome ALL
women who
want to be members, whether or not they are members of the Methodist Church.
Pledge
Members are asked to make a monetary pledge to UMW. This is a
voluntary
amount - over and above what we pledge to support our church. Pledge
money
is supplemented with income from our spring and fall food plant and rummage
sales. Throughout the year, the Jefferson UMW contributes to
undesignated
giving via the Fort Dodge District. This includes Pledge to Mission,
Special Mission Recognition, Gift in Memory, Gift to Mission and World Thank
Offering. These 5 areas of giving qualify us as a Five Star Unit.
Designated giving goes to Bidwell-Riverside in Des Moines and Shesler Hall
in Sioux City. Other giving sometimes goes to Red Bird Mission in
Kentucky
and McCurdy School in New Mexico.
Locally, UMW has contributed to youth church camp scholarships, mission
trips, UMW Bereavement Committee, In-Gathering, Action Resource Center,
Adopt-A-Family, Partnership for Violent Free Living, New Hope Village, Webb
House and House of Hope.
Quilters and Card Recyclers meet every Wednesday, 9 a.m. in the
church
basement.
UMW Reading Group meets on the last Tuesday, 10 a.m. in the church
library.
(Attending this meeting is not required to participate in the UMW Reading
Program. We have purchased several new books from the 2003 list -
others
are available at the Jefferson Public Library. Contact Opal Telleen
for
more information.)
Cookbooks
This year, (under the direction and leadership of the
newly formed Joy
Circle) we have published a Jefferson UMW cookbook. If you live out of
town just e-mail the church office for more information.
